Tanya & Dennis

Tanya and Denny met while working at Stillwater Restaurant in Brighton. They decided to stop there for a few photos between the ceremony and reception. I love the one with Denny on the kitchen line with Tanya placing an order.

LOVE the expressions. They were both laughing to keep from crying :-)

Tanya's mom thought I was crazy for having Tanya lie down in her dress. Very old hollywood.

I love how the light shows all of the detail in her dress.

The view before her entrance.

Fun shot at the restaurant where they met. She was a server, she pretending to place an order.

Cool ring shot with their names. Very appropriate for them since it is written on a order slip from the restaurant.

The groom was a HUGE golf fanatic. Sometimes cheesy is good ;-)

The bridesmaids dresses converted to mini's for the later part of the reception. Work it!!!

As always, Emerald City Designs worked their magic and did wonders for the decor. www.emeraldcitydesigns.com

Karrie & Mitch (Tale of 2 Weddings)

Karrie is the daughter of Sharon Smith, an amazing wedding planner from the fabulous Emerald City Designs. We were so flattered that Sharon wanted us to photograph her daughters wedding. Since Mitch is a major league baseball player for the Kansas City Royals, they were on the road....alot. We didn't meet them until the day of the wedding. Karrie was so sweet....really one of the nicest brides that I have ever photographed. I felt like I had known her for years. She completely trusted us to do whatever we wanted to do. Poor Mitch was sooooo sick, we didn't know if the wedding was going to be able to take place. Karrie had to hold him up during the ceremony. We weren't able to do any photos of them after the ceremony because he had to go lie down at the hotel (The Inn at St. Johns) and go to bed. The poor guy missed almost his entire reception (which looked absolutely AMAZING, thanks to Emerald City). Luckily, a relative of the bride was a doctor, so he tended to Mitch upstairs. He was able to come down to the Grande Ballroom after dinner and have a dance with his bride, cut the cake, & listen to a couple of toasts (all with a couple of IVs hooked up under his tux!!!) and then it was back up to bed :-( Karrie's mom and dad felt so bad that their daughter didn't have the wedding of her dreams that they actually gave her another wedding!!! A month later, we photographed part 2 at the fabulous Detroit Athletic Club. Since we didn't get to do much of Karrie and Mitch together the first time around, we arranged for a photo shoot around Detroit, with stops at Campus Martius. the RenCen and of course, Comerica Park (he is a professional baseball player, after all!) The feel of this reception was pure party! David McKnight of Emerald City transformed the room into a lounge by bringing in couches and coffeetables. The flower arrangements were accented with white feathers and instead of a sit down dinner, the guests (and us ;-) were treated to food stations. Mike Staff Productions provided the entertainment and they kept the dancefloor PACKED! Even the chefs got their groove on! As I told Karrie, the first wedding might not have gone as planned, but she got to do what most brides can only wish for....she got to have a second wedding to the same man AND she got to wear that gorgeous dress again ;-)
Wedding #1

Karrie was a fashion major, so she LOVED the drama of this pic!

This was taken in the room at the church were the bride waits. Karrie said she hated blue....I hope this changes her mind!

I had been wanting to do a shot like this for awhile. I took this from a catwalk in Karrie's parents home. I love the carpet pattern...I think it adds interest to the pic!

Karrie and Mitch were married at Meadowbrook Congregational which is NOT a photo-friendly church. We were told 5 minutes before the ceremony that there was NO photography allowed during the ceremony! Unfortunately, the church had a different officiant then when they had originally booked the site. Determined that we would get photos one way or another, we snuck outside during the ceremony and shot through the windows! My husband/partner Brian got this one :-)

The gorgeous Grande Ballroom at the Inn at St. John's was made even more spectacular by uber-decorator David McKinght of Emerald City Designs. Seriously, if you want a WOW wedding, hire them! www.emeraldcitydesigns.com

I LOVE lighting like this. Perfect for photographs!

Karrie and Mitch just before their Second Reception. I really like this shot... it is sooo Detroit!

Really cool lighting when there wasn't much light left!

Karrie and Mitch really wanted to make sure they got alot of great photos this time around. They were up for anything....even running around through the rain/snow!

Since Mitch is a professional baseball player, we had to shoot Comerica Park.

The Detroit Athletic Club is such a chic location. History, elegance and in the midst of everything. One of our favorite places to shoot.

The Bride singing "Baby Got Back" while one one the groomsmen gets down with his bad self ;-)

Kate and Mike met while working (he's a doctor, she is a pharmaceutical rep). They are so cute together. He had me laughing so much at the engagement session that I had a hard time shooting! She just smiles and rolls her eyes at his (constant) cut ups. Her dress is one of my favorites of the year. I just LOVE the blush colored sash! The wedding and reception were at the beautiful Inn at St. John's in Plymouth, MI.
